MOLLY'S JUNE DOTM

I had the pleasure of trying this delicious concoction on the 4th of July at Molly's house! It was tremendously refreshing and tart (I like tart!) and the sparkly cava really made it special. I insist you make this quick before summer is out!!!
Also, let it be known that this pic was taken with an actual 35 mm camera and then clumsily scanned as a pdf and not a jpeg set for image by myself, she of the wedding brain- hence the neon limes, but hey some folks are really into neon....right?

A great blog dedicated to showing mistakes on cake, in every sense of the word. Trust me- it's very entertaining...

DISCLAIMER

Hey guys, I know we are waiting for Molly's JUNE DOTM, but why haven't I posted Richard's May DOTM....cos I am a loser! Sorry I need to scan it and I have not yet cos I am getting married and am slightly crazed but I promise I will eventually! Kat's July entry is up next and I know she has a lot going on this month so let's just all take it easy! It's summertime, sit back and wait a while in the breeze of uhh the air conditioning...as you stare at your computer screen? NO! Go outside, get some sunlight on your body and when you get back, hopefully there will be much to look at here!

FRIED PIE

Yeah you heard me. I said FRIED PIE. As in darling little hand held fried cherry pies.
One of my favorite blogs Homesick Texan posted a recipe for flaky, greasy, sweet and delicious fried pies- who can resist??? My results are below. I had cherries and blueberries on hand so that is what I used, plus key lime instead of lemon. Also, lard is not welcome in my kitchen. Nope. Sad but absolutely true. They were way easier than I anticipated (after making sure the apt was WELL ventilated of course). When I bit into it, all warm and crispy and oozing red, I realized what I had been missing my whole life. Marty had his with vanilla bean ice cream, and we were truly in a pie coma afterward! I am telling you, one day I will own a deep fryer- and there will be no stopping me then.
